Great article. As for Dead tribute bands, my grandson's good friend plays in a band called "Jerry's Nub." I am pulling for Lurie to pull this off....

I had to harvest walnuts in Moraga, by order of my old man, that day in January 1967so missed out, but was there a year or so, later when the Dead played on Haight Street on two flatbed trucks in an impromptu with an extension cord running out of the Straight Theater. There is a photo in Chronicle archives from the front page... As for Lurie, he's super rich so presumably not corruptible, yet he seems to be laying down for the tech/AI Bros ala Dirty Ed Lee, flooding SF streets with Waymo robocabs. You didn't ride in one did you ?

Picking walnuts in Moraga! You continue to amaze OD. Do you remember the time the Dead played Campolindo High School?

Lurie is indeed growing on me (not my first choice). Keeping up with his impromptu posts on Instagram allow me to keep tabs on all of his efforts. Can't disagree with a single one so far. I'm impressed. The City looks and feels healthier for sure. I'll be at the 60th anniversary celebration of the Grateful Dead in Golden Gate Park. All 3 days. No more authentic San Francisco experience, guaranteed. Friends joining me from all corners of the Bay Area and beyond. Should be a very celebratory weekend.
