Russ, I'm disappointed in you, my friend. Is it your intention in this article to ask all of your subscribers who view you as an educated man to discard their voting rights as American citizens and not participate in the election of our next president? There are only two choices that will count: Biden or Trump. Although Biden is less eloquent in his speech than Obama, the difference between Biden and Trump regarding intelligence and ignorance is undeniable. In 2016, I had a dilemma. Despite my dislike of Clinton, I could not vote for someone with no political experience, let alone for the highest office in the country. So I voted a third party vote. The electoral college elected Trump as president despite losing the popular vote. I think many people had the same opinion as me. Please, let's not let that happen again.
I hear you friend. When the day comes, I will no doubt vote pragmatically, i.e. for one of the two mainstream candidates. The point of this piece is to raise the question: neither candidate, in my opinion, is fit for the presidency. On top of that is the whole drift of the country away from our free-market, entrepreneurial roots, framed in this piece by Niall Ferguson
I was in Charleston a few days ago and got into an interesting political discussion with the Uber driver who said, “I don’t know what direction we’re going in, but for sure we need some kind of revival in this country.” To me, that kind of revival is the pragmatic, common-sense, data-driven, solution-oriented approach embodied by business leaders like Jamie Dimon.
It’s a conundrum Ray. I reserve the right to change my mind until I enter the voting booth and may end up succumbing to a binary choice. If I can hold my nose twice . . .
A better younger candidate does not solve the real problem, Congress. It takes more than a pragmatic, patriotic and free marketeer to realign the course that ship of fools. The President is important and can do a lot of good, but Congress must fix problems. i will vote for one of the candidates wanting a better choice,
Pls don't opt out. Think about this: Whoever wins will likely be appointing two more Supreme Court Justices. Let that steep in thought ... That's all it took for me.
Laurie see my response to Larry West in this thread, which is where I no doubt will end up. I’m Scottish, after all, and we don’t like to throw anything away. I’m venting my utter lack of enthusiasm for either candidate and trying to imagine a badly needed path forward.
Well if you want a JAMIE for president, I’m available. But I’d probably lean toward either Peter Sellers in Being There or Woody Allen in Bananas. I might offer up our current PM…he’ll be out of a job in about 14 months if you can wait. Tragically, today, more and more people are being driven away from politics at any level because of its toxicity and it’s hard to blame them. In the case of both Trump and BIden the VP pick is probably more important. If I’m a Dem I’d sure be looking at changing the ticket! BTW we have a drinking game whenever someone says “stakeholders”. Also looking for a ‘reasonable’ drinking game for tonight’s debacle…errr….debate!

You'll sleep better, but I won't. A vote for Jamie is a de facto vote for Trump.
Reconsider, Russ.

That's good. Also consider the fact that one of them is the far better human, and it's not even close.

Haha! I’d vote for you anytime! A good word for a drinking game tonight would be “democracy,” but you won’t be able to drive anywhere afterwards.
a moneychanger ? I dunno...thought provoking
