I love this. It is such an awesome experience to walk the beautiful grounds and take in the genius of Alistair McKenzie and Bobby Jones to turn this former nursery into a wonderful test of golf. Wish I were there again this week. Maybe we will win the lottery next year. Until then we will enjoy the TV coverage and hope for an exciting week.
As one who grew up going to see James Brown and listening to his music, I can report that he was from Augusta, G. A., not Augusta. But that point made, this piece captures the Masters perfectly. Thanks Russ!
My niece is a medical illustrator . I went to her graduation ceremony from Medical College of Georgia at James Brown Arena in Augusta. At our family meal at an Augusta Restaurant near the golf course, the waiter had a JB tale , as probably every Black family in Augusta has. I met James Brown and got my picture taken with him in 1980 at the Stone in San Francisco , where he killed it for several nights running with his band the JB's International. Was that illustration of the course by the prisoner who never played golf ?
